To provide you with maximum spin, every SM8's grooves are 100% inspected Spin Milled Grooves. The wedges receive a proprietary heat treatment that doubles groove durability. Six tour-proven sole grinds provide a precision fit.
The Titleist Vokey SM8 wedges feature forward center of gravity for improved accuracy and repeatability. Six grinds offer versatility. Stellar looks and personalization options up the desirability.
The Titleist Vokey SM8 wedges offer distinctive improvements in both looks and performance. Developed by the gifted hands of Bob Vokey and with input from Titleist tour staff, the variety of grinds and lofts allows golfers to dial in the SM8 wedges that will best benefit their game. And for those who enjoy a little personalized flair, or desire customization, Wedgeworks is worth the experience.
These wedges look gorgeous. Seems the wedges are taking a real turn towards greater and greater refinements (thinking of the new Cleveland Zipcore and PXG wedges as examples), an evolution in both design and function. And gees I want to play these new wedges as they were designed to be played. However, there is an ongoing problem that I feel is never really addressed.
The Titlesit Vokey Design SM9 Jet Black wedges are more versatile and precise than ever. They feature high-performance technology for maximum ball flight control and multiple variations for custom performance.
Vokey DesignGreat wedge play comes from shot variety, distance control and spin. The materials and structure of SM9 wedges represent the most technologically advanced design in all three areas, tuned for precise contact, lower ball flight and higher spin.
Progressive Center of GravitySM9 wedges feature a progressive center of gravity (CG) in all lofts that optimizes ball flight, accuracy and forgiveness. By using tapered top lines and varying hosel lengths, the Vokey R&D team raised the CG height in the higher lofts, which promotes a lower, more controlled flight. The CG is also forward of the clubface, resulting in increased MOI, exceptional feel and a clubface that just wants to straighten up at impact.
To counterbalance both the progressive hosels and the thicker topline, Vokey puts additional weight in the forward toe section. That leaves the Vokey SM9 with a slightly heel-favoring center of gravity. It has been that way for the last six iterations of Vokey wedges.
In its pursuit of spin, Vokey is doing many of the same things as its competitors. Its lower-lofted wedges have narrower and deeper (more iron-like) grooves while higher-lofted wedges offer wider and shallower grooves for more spin on partial shots.
Before you break out the torches and pitchforks, understand that like many things in golf, the 75-round number is simply a guideline. The right number really depends on the conditions in which you play, how often you use your wedges out of the sand and how much you practice.
Not sure I see enough difference or improvements in the SM9 to spend the extra money. I was hoping for the possibility of the Wedgeworks T grind to make its way into the SM9. SM8 wedges on sale might be the way to go for me.
Available globally on March 3 (while supplies last), Vokey SM9 Jet Black Premium wedges bring a fresh look to the most played wedges across the worldwide professional tours and with golfers everywhere.
The all-new finish is built to last, thanks to a time-intensive heat-treated binding process that enhances durability. The wedges are paired with a Dynamic Gold Onyx S200 shaft and an all-black Tour Velvet 360 grip with BV Wings to complete the modern, sleek look.
